Casement windows
The uPVC casement window is our most installed window, and it’s the same story for pretty much any installation company in the UK.
They’re popular because they’re simple, and as a result affordable. They’re likely already in place somewhere at your home or work, and open inwards or outwards on a singular hinge.
Sliding sash windows
A classic choice for period properties. Modern uPVC sliding sash windows replicate the look of traditional timber sash windows, without the rot, rattling or repainting.
They come in at a slightly higher average cost than uPVC, but have been in demand for centuries so will no doubt appeal to potential buyers should you ever wish to sell.
Tilt and turn windows
Incredibly versatile, these tilt inward at the top for ventilation or open fully inside your space from the side. You may have fiddled with them in a hotel or an AirBnB in Europe, but once you’ve figured out how to operate the handle, they’re a really sensible choice.
They’re especially great on upper lowers if you want safe ventilation without creating any fall hazards for young children. Equally, on ground floors you can open the window safe in the knowledge that intruders won’t be able to squeeze into the small open gap in the corner.
Bay and bow windows
Bay and bow windows project outward from the wall, creating extra light and space inside. They’re the most premium uPVC option, and the final cost reflects the additional materials and structural work involved.
Flush sash windows
Flush sash windows sit completely flat within the outer frame, creating a continuous surface that mimics traditional timber joinery beautifully. A popular choice for period properties and conservation areas.
What impacts the price of uPVC windows?
Beyond style, several other factors will influence what you pay.
- Window size: Larger windows mean more materials, heavier glazing units and longer installation times. Always get a quote based on your actual measurements.
- Glazing specification: Double glazing is the most popular and cost-effective choice. Triple glazing adds an extra pane of glass for superior energy performance, think of it as an extra layer of warmth, but does come at a higher upfront cost. The long-term savings on heating bills often make it worthwhile.
- Colour and finish: White uPVC windows are the most affordable option. Coloured uPVC windows, such as Anthracite Grey, woodgrain effects or Chartwell Green, are increasingly popular for a contemporary look but carry a slightly higher price tag.
- Number of windows: Replacing a full house of windows adds up, but a whole-house window replacement can offer better value. It typically takes one to three days for an average three-bedroom home.
- Access and location: Properties requiring scaffolding or on multiple storeys may incur additional costs. Also, certain areas in England that are more expensive will likely incur higher costs.

Window replacements in England and Wales must comply with Building Regulations for thermal performance and safety. Using a company registered under a Competent Person Scheme, such as FENSA, means your installer self-certifies the work on your behalf, there’s no need to apply separately to your local authority.
